Getting Your Artwork Ready for Print
When sending us your artwork, to ensure your printwork arrives on time there are a few steps to ensure that your artwork is in the best condition for printing. By following these steps you will also ensure that the finished product will match the files you sent, and prevent any unforseen errors in printing.
Print Deadline
The deadline for sending your printfiles to us is 9am Monday to Friday for standard deliveries, and 8am Monday to Friday for express print. If your file is received before 9am it will go to print that day, counting as your first working day for your order. Any files recieved after this time will go to print the following day.
How to send your artwork
There are a number of ways of getting your artwork to us for print:
- Adding it directly to your order when placing through our website.
- Via e-mail to YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS
- Via FTP direct to our server.
- Send it through a third party email uploader (eg www.yousendit.com or www.mailbigfile.com.
- Via Post.
Print Formats
Our preferred format for printing is an X1a compatible PDF. Alternatively you can send a JPEG, TIFF, or other format such as Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, Photoshop, In-Design.
Proofs
When uploading your file to print if you require to see an electronic proof please send an email to us at YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS with your order number. By default we will not send a proof if your file is in PDF format ready for print. If you do not request a proof then your file will be sent direct to print as long as it meets our size and resolution requirements. We are unable to provide paper proofs as we are litho printers.
Artwork Sizes
Please ensure that your artwork is of the correct size before sending, templates are available from the link in the navigation bar above. Please allow 3mm to the nearest text from the edge of the page for all flyers, and 5mm for all posters. If you do not allow the correct distance from the edge of the artwork there may be a delay in your print as we try to obtain an amended file from yourselves or amend it ourselves if requested.
Crop and Trim Marks
Please remove all crop marks before sending your PDF.
Colour Format
Please send all artwork in CMYK format. The printable colour range available to CMYK is smaller than that of RGB, and we cannot be held responsible for colouration issues that arise from sending RGB files to print rather than CMYK.
Print Resolution
All artwork should be designed at 300dpi (120dpi for banners). This ensures that all images and text on the printed product will come out looking sharp and correct.
Print Ready artwork
Once your artwork has the correct bleed, folding areas and colour format it is considered to be "Print Ready".
